Hello, Brother Moose Members
We started the year out on a bad note when we lost another one of our Lodges (Bemidji
Moose Lodge #1452). They have decided to close their Lodge which means they must
turn in their Charter. We must look at our own Lodges and make sure we don't fall in the
same foot steps. We should be trying to build new lodges, not getting rid of the existing
ones. Why not start the year off right. If you feel as though your Lodge could use a little
help, please read the letter below from Bill Airey. Even some of the lodges that are doing
good, might get some idea's on how to keep your membership up and add new members.
Let's get our lodges back on track, like they were 15 - 20 years ago. It can be done, but
it does take a group effort, some dedication and hard work. We must get rid of the
negatively and think positive with more activities, meals and comrodery. We must let the
members of our lodges know that we care in order for them to care. After reading the
letter below, you must ask yourself, is it possible? Can we do it? Are we signing the
member up in a lodge, knowing he will come back? And are we having the functions
necessary in our lodge to keep the present membership and get new members interested?
Membership in the State of Minnesota is the lowest its been for the longest, I can
remember, and if that is our livelyhood, we aren't doing enough to maintain it. We must
pursue that ultimate goal, and maintain our present membership and work on building new
members, and that has to be a joint effort. Please, once again, let's start the new year out
right.
Fraternally,
Gerald J. Janu, Secretary
Minn. Moose Association
