The Minnesota Council of the Higher Degrees is composed of Lodge members who hold the Legion of the Moose, Fellowship and Pilgrim Degree, and Chapter members that have the Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder or College of Regents Degrees. Purpose and objectives of the Council of the Higher Degrees are;
*To render service to Mooseheart and Moosehaven to help carry out their charitable and philanthropic endeavors.
*To promote fraternal and social unity, benevolence and charity among members of the Order’s Higher Degrees.
*To promote a better understanding of Moose International, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Women of the Moose.
*To honor any newly elevated members of the Fellowship, Pilgrim, College of Regents, Star Recorder or Academy of Friendship Degrees.
*To pay proper respects to departed members.
*And our number one purpose of the Council of Higher Degrees is member retention in lodge, chapter and Legion within its jurisdiction.
Dues for membership in the Council is $5.00 a year or a lifetime membership can be had for $75.00. Dues are by the calendar year. Other funds of the council come from an auction of donated items at each meeting. These funds have been used for projects at Mooseheart: Minnesota building - $3800.00, Energy fund - $1750.00, Gifts to Minnesota home residents - $2693.38, Scholarships - $1514.00. At Moosehaven; Life Care Building $4600.00, Hurricane Relief - $250.00, Kitchen renovation - $1000.00, Bus stop cover - $500.00, Other contributions, collected and remitted to Endowment fund of - $1315.13, Leach Lake Lodge - $100.00, Minnesota Moose Association for ads - $1120.00, All State Legion Celebration ads - $540.00, Supreme Governor Party - $574.77, State Convention party - $25.00, Mid year Conference party - $25.00. For total of $19807 .
Council members also organize and prepare the food for the annual bus trip and picnic at Mooseheart the third weekend of July. All the residents of Mooseheart come to this picnic plus Moose members from Wisconsin. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend meeting all these fine folks and our children at Mooseheart.
